Durham: Marena Place
This homeowner needed to capture stormwater runoff to mitigate wet spots in the low parts of her back yard. The water that was harvested then could go to watering her multiple garden beds that she uses to grow produce for her business.
-
A 500-gallon cistern was positioned at the back right downspout of the house. It was fitted with an overflow device, passive drawdown, tank gauge, and internal pump connected to a start switch and irrigation control box.
-
A valve control box was installed by the garden beds and small greenhouse. Here, underground piping connects the garden bed irrigation system, as well as the greenhouse's hose bib to the cistern.
-
Brown irrigation piping was interwoven throughout each bed and includes sprinkler heads that can be turned on and off using the Rainbird control box attached to the side of the house or using the Rainbird phone app.
